Types of Windows We Install
At Best Buy Windows & Siding, we provide window installation and replacement services for a variety of high-quality windows. The following are the 11 types of windows we work on.
Double Hung Windows
Many American homeowners consider these to be the “standard” window. There are two moving sections (called sashes) contained within each window frame. The upper sash and lower sash are slightly offset, and both move up and down. This is a great option that balances cost, easy maintenance and generous airflow.
Single Hung Windows
Single-hung windows have a similar setup as double-hung windows. However, the upper sash does not move. So, only the bottom section can be opened. These windows are a little less expensive than their double-hung cousins but offer a lot of similar benefits.
Triple Pane Windows
We offer triple pane double-hung windows. These function the same way as the above-mentioned type. However, they have an extra pane of glass in each sash. This helps improve their insulating qualities – keeping your home quieter and more comfortable.
Slider Windows
Slider windows feature two sections mounted next to each other. One of the sections moves horizontally, while the other stays fixed in place. This can be done with windows of almost all sizes including glass doors. Slider windows are perfect for creating a sense of indoor/outdoor continuity. They are also a great option if you want a large window that can be opened.
Bay Windows
These windows feature a trapezoidal protrusion from the side of the home. It is a great way to add some extra flavor to the architecture of your home. Plus, the windows on each side of the trapezoid let in plenty of light. Many people have benches or shelves built into their bay windows to create a pleasant window seat or interior design accent.
Picture Windows
Picture windows are relatively large, fixed windows. They tend to be popular for highlighting a certain architectural or landscape feature outside the home. Additionally, they are great for letting a lot of natural light into space. Since there are no moving parts, picture windows can have large spaces of uninterrupted glass.
Casement Windows
A casement window tilts to open, either swinging up (with the hinge at the top) or out (with the hinge at the side). Many casement windows are installed side by side; however, single casement windows can also be installed. This is a nice way to have a lot of unobstructed glass while still being able to open the window.
Specialty Windows
When you want to add some wow factor to your home, specialty windows are a great way to go. This is a broad category of windows that have special shapes to fit unique situations. This can add some extra dimensionality to your home.
Low-E Glass Windows
Low-E glass is a special type of window glass that has fantastic insulating properties. There is an extremely thin (much thinner than a strand of hair) coating that helps reflect infrared energy. This means that it will prevent hot or cold weather from impacting your interior comfort.
Argon Gas-Filled Windows
These windows feature argon gas in the space between the panes rather than a vacuum (the usual method on double and triple pane windows). Argon Gas-Filled Windows are more effective at insulating your home from heat, cold, and noise.
Custom Windows
Some homeowners want a completely custom window to add some truly unique appeal to their homes. We offer shapes such as ellipses, circles, octagons, hexagons, trapezoids, triangles, and other shapes. Whether there is an awkward space on your wall, or you just want something a little different, we can offer custom window installation to help get the job done.
